I remember the day I realized I loved corsets and all the magic they can do. I was going through boxes of anything that seemed new to me in my cubby at home. I saw Halloween decorations, old dart boards and dolls that were left to be forgotten for the time being. And I came upon a box of magazines I had never seen. It was a box of ‘Porn’ from the 1940’s to 1970’s and like the child I was I was fascinated and scared all in the same whirl wind of excitement. I looked at them all…passing nude beaches, bathing suit ads and finally finding the little magazine I would come to love. It was called John Willie’s Bizarre. It is a fetish magazine in the 40’s. The magazine I had in my hands was 1947 volume 2, and it had the woman who would lour me into the corset world. It may have been an article about corset training and how it can effect/ruin your health. But it was more of a statement that corsets were out of style at the time. But I loved the pictures of her in it, I loved how it accentuated her bust, made her waist tiny and brought out her hips; giving her the figure every woman wants. This woman’s name was Mlle Polaire(Emily Marie Bouchaud), she was a French dancer, singer and actress in Paris. She is known for her small waist rumored to be no more than 14 inches and her burlesque dancing. The pictures of her, are shocking and a tad scary; but you still want to have a small waist.
I know I do. I want one to accentuate my hips and give me a figure, because I am a twig basically and don’t really have breasts; so it would make me look how I think a woman should. It would be amazing to feel feminine and to me a defined shape and feeling sexy and beautiful in your own skin is important and corsets encourage people to love the way they are, and feel confident. Some say, that’s like living up to the image of Barbie, but it’s possible to be beautiful and that’s what corsets do in my opinion. They add to the assets all woman should show off; womanly curves, a great figure, defined shape, and an image of perfection(which everyone has to admit makes you feel good, and everyone loves to have great self esteem.)
I have never owned a corset. As I write this, I am wearing my skull corset tank top. It has no bones, no plates, and doesn’t do too much for making an hour glass shape on me. It has a zipper and it always rides up on me making me feel self cautious about my belly being exposed. I have never worn a real corset, but I dream. I have worn some of my friends “Corsets” and “lingerie” type corsets/sleepwear and they are badly made, don’t fit right, the bones bend, and they ride up as well. I hope to some day save up and buy a lovely corset. I’ve been to a lot of sites, it’s all confusing, and scary.
